Shaving Brushes from MEN-U

Thinking about trying a shaving brush? $19.99 will get you a high quality Italian shave brush from MEN-U in your choice of patriotic colors - red, white, blue..., and black. (Black's patriotic too.) Shaving brushes are a good idea. Smoothing shaving cream on your face with your fingers works, but it tends to mat down your whiskers, which is the opposite of what you want. Here are the three main benefits of a brush, according to MEN-U:

First, it helps raise the hair so that a closer cut is possible. Second, it helps create a rich creamy lather with the shaving cream that stays close to the skin. And, finally, it helps remove dead skin cells (exfoliation) which reduces the chance of blemishes, razor bumps and also helps the skin look and feel smooth and healthy

Check out the rest of MEN-U's site for tips on shaving, gift ideas, and lots of other great products.

The best value of shaving brushes in the market is probably the Tweezerman HIS Deluxe Shaving Brush ($10-$12). This brush is made in Korea of 100% badger hair, the preferred bristle for softness and for creating a rich lather. The brush head is densely packed, and the base is made of wood. The bristle is quite soft and comfortable. The base is basic, but nicely shaped, polished and lightly stained. I bought two brushes of them. The first one severely shed hair. Fortunately it was backed by a lifetime manufacturer's guarantee that repairs or replaces the defective brushes for free. Tweezerman's Customer Service Center is located in Houston, Texas. My request for replacement was done through email. The replacement brush did not shed. The second brush I bought was perfectly fine. After a year of use, the brush head remains densely packed and soft. Tweezerman also markets a similar shaving brush for HER, sold with soap as a set.
