Gillette Fusion is Available!

The Gillette Fusion is available in stores as of Thursday January 26th. Readers from around the country are reporting availability in Costco, Walgreen's and CVS. We've even got out first reader review from Greg in Texas:

I got my Fusion last night (1/26/06) in Houston. I used it and I think it's a winner. The blade cartridge is much larger but the individual blades are about 50% smaller than the Mach3 Turbo. The shave feels much different than the M3T. Maybe it was because it was a new cartridge, but the shave seemed closer with less razor burn. The single blade on the back is a great addition too, but I think it will take some practice to get the perfect sideburns.

Huge day in the shaving world. HUGE! 15 and 30 second teaser ads are starting to air now, and then the big media kickoff starts during Super Bowl XL next Sunday. Here's the press release detailing to rollout. Suggested price for the non-powered Fusion is $9.99, while the Fusion Power will retail at $11.99. I have no doubt you'll find them on sale over the next few weeks. A quick check at Amazon shows that the Gillette Fusion Power is down to $9.57.

Gentlemen, start your razors!

I also unfortunately have to give this razor a thumbs down. I bought a fusion phantom and was all excited to try the power gilette having clung to my trusty Mach3 Turbo for years now. The razor looks great and holds nicely in your hand. Unfortunately my first word after trying it was "OUCH!" It didn't glide very well at all and like others mentioned, it seems to clog with hair very quickly. In fact it seemed to work slightly better if I did not turn on the vibration feature... very disapointing. I'm going back to the Mach3 Turbo.

The Fusion shaver by Gillette is a cruel joke! If you don't have a heavy 5 O'Clock shadow this thing doesn't work. It is painful and doesn't shave very close. The 5 blade thing sounds good but, the spacing between the blades it too narrow and they clog and that single blade on the end, good thought but, doesn't work any better than my Sensor or Mach III. I want a refund for my free sample I was sent, that is how incredibly bad this shaver is.

I purchased both the SCHICK QUATTRO POWER and the GILLETTE FUSION POWER. The best thing I can say is that the SCHICK is great if I haven't shaved all weekend, and I need to take the hair off, whereas the Gillette has it's blades too close to do this easily,

But when I do not have so much hair on my face (Daily shaving) the Fusion appears to give me a less irritated face than the Quattro.

I have been searching on others comments to determine which I am going to continue buying now that my blades are finished and I am going to choose the FUSION for the daily shave, because I like it when my face is not rashed.

Stop hating on the fusion, i have been using the fusion power for a few weeks and it is the best razor have shaved with, the sensor sucks, it cuts my face up terribly, the mach3 is better but the fusion i get more shaves out of and it rarely cuts my face. so dont listen to the haters, it IS a very good razor.

I've just bought a Gillette Fusion razor, having used a Mach3 for a few years. Just had my first shave with it, and I'm quite impressed. Although the blades are more expensive, having five of them should mean that they last longer, so it shouldn't really cost any more in the long run. I also like the trimmer blade - gets rid of the odd whisker in the corner of my mouth much better than the Mach3.

I just got one of these from Giant (sent a free one in the mail). The fusion has to be one of the smoothest razors I've ever used. Again it could be that the blade is new, but coming from a mach3 I can say I love this razor..

I just bought, I mean JUST bought, this razor. Disappointed would be one of the first words that come to mind, especially given it price...$34 (razor & 8 blades). The blades are just too close together. The minute it hit my face it stopped. It didn't glide well at all. My disposable twin blades work much better. The single blade on the back of the razor is the only feature I liked.

If Gilette wants me to buy this new razor then they will give me the razor for free - especially given how much they charge for the blades.

I bought Gillette Fusion Power few days ago. It is the worst shaver I ever bought. I think the blades are so close together that the hair get stuck in them and it hurts to shave.

Since I already spend money on this new razor so I shave with my old Gillette sensor first and then shave again with Fusion just to feel Kool on being on cutting edge of technology :-)

Hope this review saves some of you from wasting your money.

Sorry, guys. This is the stupidest gizmo money-sucker to come down the road in a while.
Save your money, buy Sensor blades in bulk from razorsdirect.com
For the price, there is no better shave.
If you want to play with a toy, buy some Lego blocks.

I blogged about my experiences with the fusion at:

Included are silly pictures of me shaving. Enjoy!
