Darren Barefoot's Adventures In Shaving

Meet Darren Barefoot - blogger, shaver, experimenteur. Darren's recent project was to perform a side-by-side comparison between the new 5-bladed Gillette Fusion and the classic 2-bladed Bic Twin Select. In a piece entitled How Many Razors Blades Do I Really Need?, Darren shaves one side of his face with each. All is documented with pre-and post-shave photos, including some high-level whiteboarding sessions. (Warning - math) Read up and comment.

For those of you who are impatient, we'll cut to the chase:

Conclusions? After one shave, there’s little reason to use five blades. Maybe, over time, the cheap two-blade razor would irritate your skin more? Regardless, I think I’ll just stick with my three blades.

Nice work Darren. And for all the people who say the Fusion is expensive, check out the cost of Claritin in the receipt of Darren's purchase. Next up - the left side of Darren's face will take Claritin, and the right side will take a generic Benedryl knock-off.
