Reader Review of the Personna Matrix3 Razor
ShavingStuff reader Joseph wrote in recently with this positive review of the Matrix3 razor:
Last week I picked up razor, Matrix3 by American Safety Razor, at Wal-Mart for about $4.50 (a handle plus three cartridges or four cartridges). The cartridge contains three titanium coated blades. I only used it once but was very impressed with its performance. It gave probably the closest shave I had lately, more so than the Fusion Power. Of course, it does not vibrate. The handle feels much lighter than the Fusion Power. Try it.
Here's the product features from Amazon:
- One Razor with Two Refill Cartridges.
- Not tested on animals.
- 100% Vegan.
What?!? 100% vegan? Is this razor made of recycled corn husks?
From the American Safety Razor Company website:
The handle is made of brushed steel and rubber with an ergonomic design that provides a superior grip when wet, and the heavier handle improves balance and control.
I think whoever entered the info about this razor on Amazon was smoking something 100% vegan.

I have used the Tri Flex and that they do work. It's just that the handle was cheaply made and when the razor clogged, there is not enough space to let the water through so that they were difficult to get clean. I instead got razors online for older systems like the Xtreme3 and the Sensor, they were never more than about $1 per cartridge as the sites were dicounting them do to overstock, clearing out or whatever.
