What is Hyper "X"?
I'm a big fan of Wired magazine. Each month they have a page called Japanese Schoolgirl Watch, devoted to the latest craze that young women in Japan are into. Usually it involves high-tech gadgetry accessories. This month they did something a little different - a Japanese Schoolboy Watch - on gyaru-o — "male gals".
Tanned, fabulously coiffed, and usually hetero, these foppish hipsters can be found cruising the Shibuya boutiques, spending as much time and money on their appearance as any trendsetting schoolgirl.
Here's what caught my eye when they detailed a typical gyaru-o's man-products:
Hyper "X": Reconstruct in Sense of Beauty for Men ($61)
Shaving is for losers. A little dab of this gel will keep your face as smooth as Astroboy's butt.
Does anyone know what this product Hyper "X" is? I wrote to Wired but got no response. As you might imagine, it's hard to search on Hyper "X". Sounds more like a game than a grooming product. If anyone has any info about this product I'd be very thankful if you could send it in. Thanks.

hey! I asked em too, with no response. I did find hyper X on Japanese Yahoo shopping though. It looks promising, but since i can't read anything i'm SOL. I'm pretty sure it is a depilatory, but i'm betting it works much better than Nair, lol. I really want some though Gal-o is def my favorite japanese sub-culture as of yet.
You are not going to find hyper X or any product like it in the US because the FDA won't approve using depilatories on your face. They can seriously injure your eyes or poison you. Funny you mention nair. I suspect hyper x is a funny smelling version of nair.
One could swap the label and use it on your face with the same results. However, you won't be able to sue anyone if you mess up.
