Who's the New Guy?

My name is Derek Markham, and I'm excited to be a part of Shaving Stuff and BlogPire. I want to take a minute to introduce myself and give you a little background information about me. I live with my wife and two daughters (and a baby on the way) in Fort Collins, Colorado, and I'm currently employed as the manager of a small grocery store. I enjoy writing for blogs and news sites, and I like riding my singlespeed bicycles, bouldering, cooking, baking sourdough bread, and strong coffee.
I remember being a young kid, feeling my chin every day, just waiting for the time when I could start shaving. I watched my dad shave and envied his brush and bowl and blade, but when it came time for me to start, I went for disposable blades and some foam from a can...
Over the years, I've worn a beard for long periods, both full and trimmed, a goatee for many years, then clean-shaven for the last few. My current style is moving from a soul patch to a chin strip each time I shave. My weapon of choice is a trimmer (not the T980 Turbo Vacuum Trimmer, unfortunately) and I always end up with whiskers all over the sink. I tend to go for the stubbly look most of the winter.
I keep imagining that I'll learn how to shave like my grandpa, with a straight razor, and I've got my eye on either the Dovo razor or the Fromm.
I hope to keep you informed about the latest and greatest in shaving, and if you'd like to get in touch with any feedback or comments, drop me a line at derek at shavingstuff dot com.
