Moving is Fun, Moving Sucks

I'm feeling a bit sheepish for missing a post here on Shaving Stuff yesterday, which was due to a big move we just made. We moved from Colorado (very dry state) to New Mexico (extremely dry state) over the last week, and the phone company swore that my phone and web access would be installed yesterday. It was, but not until 5 pm...
Anyway, I'm up and running now, and I wanted to share this picture of a vinegarroon (whiptail scorpion) that I almost stepped on in my shop last night - another reason to wear shoes at night when going outside. And yes, it was as big as it looks.
Over the last week, we've camped, been in a motel, and then moved into a house with no hot water (yet). I've been shaving with cold water for the last several days, and it hasn't been as bad as I thought. I'm using Speick shaving cream (my usual), and my Merkur safety razor with Personna blades. It seems like letting the cream sit on my face for a longer time before shaving really helps, but it's so dry here, the cream gets pretty dry on my face before I start. I have been just rubbing more water into the lather when I'm ready, and it works almost as well as a hot water shave (your mileage may vary).
I've got a couple of cool things coming up here on Shaving Stuff: I'm going to take the Gillette Razor Challenge, shaving one half of my face with the Custom Plus 3, and the other half with the Fusion Power, for a week. I plan to take some video of the challenge, so you'll get to see the results. I'm also trying out two new shave creams, Erasmic and ingram to review for you soon.
Now if the plumber could just get the hot water back in service...
