Shave With a Shark's Tooth?

Shark tooth.jpgWe've got electric razors, cartridge razors, safety razors, straight razors for keeping us smooth, but a shark's tooth?

According to Mental Floss:

In the days before razors, you could either sport a hirsute look or get creative. Records drawn on cave walls show prehistoric people shaving with clamshells, flint knives, and even shark teeth. ... Still other cultures sharpened volcanic obsidian glass and used those.

I'm trying to imagine shaving with obsidian or a shark's tooth. But I can't.

I'm quite attached to my Merkur, thank you very much.

I don't know about shaving with a shark's tooth, but obsidian should work really well. Prior to the invention of metal blades, obsidian blades were easily the sharpest blades man was capable of making -- indeed, even today, I have heard of some surgeons using them as scaples.
