Review of Razor MD iGrip Chrome Shave Set

razormd.jpgI've been shaving for about 25 years now, going from disposable cartridge razors to electric razors (including the ultimate shaving gadget), and most recently becoming a safety razor fan. But I've never had a razor set that actually looks good when I'm not using it (I do like the look of my Merkur, but it's not much to look at by itself.

So when Razor MD sent me their iGrip Chrome Razor Set to review, I was jazzed to have something that I would be proud to display on my bathroom counter.

The chrome iGrip set comes with a razor and brush stand, a badger hair brush, and the iGrip razor, all inside a very cool presentation box. When I first opened the box, my initial thought was "This would make an excellent gift", because it's something that just says heirloom all over it. Your sons will probably fight over who's going to inherit it...

The chrome razor and brush stand is pretty simple in appearance, but it has a classy look just the same. It holds your brush and razor up off of the counter with style, and is stable - not easy to knock over at all.

The chrome badger hair shaving brush is a hefty one. The weight of it felt good in my hand, and the very plush head worked great for whipping up a lather and working it into my whiskers.

Razor MD's iGrip razor also has a great feel to it (hence the iGrip name...) and looks pretty sweet sitting on the stand. It takes both the Mach3 and Fusion blades, and the neck swivels to meet the contours of your face quite easily. I rather enjoyed the shave.

The only drawback for me with this razor set is the fact that it's only for cartridges, which I don't normally use. I think the company would do very well if they were to introduce an iGrip with a safety razor head, which seems easy enough, considering that the head portion of the razor unscrews from the handle.

Overall, I really like the quality of this shaving set, and think it would make a great gift for a birthday, holiday, or Father's Day. It looks good, works well, and is priced reasonably.
