Holiday Gift Guide 2010 for Shaving Stuff
So, you're looking for a great gift for a man in your life, and you think they might appreciate some shaving or grooming gear? Instead of browsing through the hundreds of personal care and shaving products on the market, save some time for yourself and check out the Shaving Stuff Holiday Gift Guide 2010.
We've spent the whole year reading about and reviewing shaving gear, and while there's a lot of great stuff out there, we've gone through it all and picked out some of the best shaving and grooming related gifts, depending on the type of man you're buying for.
Gifts for the Gadgeteer:
Go-Go-Gadget Shaver! The gadget guy loves a sleek machine, a tool that is on the cutting edge (!) of shaving gear.
So don't bother with the generic stuff - pick up something along the lines of the ultimate shaving gadget, the Braun Pulsonic, or go for a manscaping tool that's straight out of the comics: the Mangroomer. If you really want something different, how about a phone/razor combo? Or the Freedom Dynamo Electric Shaver - no batteries needed!
Gifts for Mr. Natural:
Mr. Natural likes it simple and green. Unscented and all-natural are the keywords, and eco-friendly products are a plus. A sure win is Pacific Shaving Company's All Natural Shaving Cream, as well as their Shaving Oil, and their Blade Oil makes a man's razor last a lot longer.
Mr. Natural might appreciate the simpleness of a safety razor or a straight razor, which makes shaving a bit more of a man's ritual with his tools. The Merkur double edged safety razors are top-notch, and a number of styles are available to match the man who owns it.
Gifts for the Old School Shaver:
The Old School shaver is also a grooming ritualist, eschewing mechanical 'conveniences' over style and quality. He's probably got a couple of styles of safety razors or a straight razor, so picking up a year's supply of his favorite double edged razor blades or getting his blade professionally honed will lift you up a couple of notches in his book.
Stick to the tried and true classics for this guy - take a peek inside his shaving kit to see what he's into right now, then explore other products from those companies. A great place to start is at The Art of Shaving, and if you want to give him the VIP treatment, send him to the Barber Spa.
Gifts for the New School Shaver:
The New School shaver might change his facial hair style every month, so giving him a fantastic grooming tool like the Philips Norelco Stubble Trimmer will enable easy facial "re-branding" with the five o'clock shadow in rotation with a hip moustache or soul patch.
The big winner for New School shavers is the Gillette ProGlide, though. This razor is the culmination of decades of research into shaving technology and user feedback, giving an exceptionally smooth shave with a very comfortable grip. So think about giving a couple of packages of ProGlide cartridges, or a ProGlide starter package, and give him a smooth new future.
Gifts for the Manscaper:
The Manscaper is into being tidy, and no square inch of skin is exempt from the discerning eyes of this hardy soul. The hot item this year is the Philips Norelco Bodygroom System, which is especially recommended for taking care of those bits below the belt without pain or irritation.
Another excellent pick for the Manscaper is the Mangroomer, which lets him take care of shaving his own back - no more will he ask you to do it for him!
Inquire at a local waxing salon about a gift certificate for him to come in for a wax or sugar or Male Brazilian...
Gifts for the Hipster Shaver:
Yes, the Hipster needs a little holiday grooming love as well, and one way to show you care about your favorite guy (or gal) is with something crafty and one of a kind, such as a Beardling or one of these. Maybe a beard growth T-shirt or some moustache art.
There are even more recommendations in our other Holiday Gift Guides, so please check those out as well.
Here's to happy and painless holiday shopping for all your shaving and grooming gifts!
