According to the above graphic, from 9GAG, International Moustache Day is the first Friday in August. I couldn't find any other reference for the date, but since it's on the internet, it must be true... So if you're inclined to grow a nosebeard, use that date as your excuse to begin.
I did find another date, in October, for International Moustache Day in this video:
And then, of course, for those who can't commit to actually growing a moustache (or can't do it at all), there is International Fake Moustache Day, which falls on February 3rd.
I'm not sure what people will think if you to wear a fake moustache on International Moustache Day, but I imagine the more mo's the better.
And if any of you know of any other moustache day dates, please leave me a comment and let me know!
"GFD Gesellschaft für Diamantprodukte of Ulm, Germany, is pitching the idea of using a super-sharp razor blade made of industrial diamonds that could last more than 1,000 times longer than today's conventional blade.
A nanocrystalline diamond coating is first applied to a carbide blade, then the minute layers are polished by a plasma sharpening process developed by GFD. The blade is polished until the cutting edge is sharpened to only a few nanometers, consisting of merely a few atoms."
"For the longest time, men had beards. And it is easy to understand why.
Cavemen had beards because they had no choice - they lacked any kind of blade to shave their beards off.
But once metallurgy has been refined in any civilization, the technology of knives follows soon after. These cutting tools become more and more refined, leading to the development of the straight razor, known for its thin, super-sharp blade."
To help spread the word about the launch of the new Fusion ProGlide razor, Gillette held a contest to find two "regular guys" to serve as the latest brand ambassadors, and to hit the road to get skeptical men across the U.S. to try out ProGlide.
The winners, Jason and Adam, have started their six week journey, which has already taken them to VIP destinations such as the ESPYS in LA, the Vegas strip, and the MLB All-Star Game. They've started blogging about their adventures at ProGlide Summer Job and tweeting along the way @proglideusj. These "two regular guys" are being given insane access to events and celebrities on top of the $50K they'll make for this job.
"We were two ProGlide skeptics who came to see the light. Now we're Gillette ambassadors enjoying VIP access to big time sporting events, sports stars, Hollywood studios and music festivals as we travel around North America challenging other guys to feel how ProGlide turns shaving into gliding."
"Who is "the modern man"? What does he look for in a partner, and does he make an effort to be romantic? How much effort does he put into his appearance, how does he stay in touch with friends and what standards of professionalism does he hold himself to?"
How careful are you about the ingredients in your personal care products? Check this video out. You'll be surprised.
"The Story of Cosmetics, released on July 21st, 2010, examines the pervasive use of toxic chemicals in our everyday personal care products, from lipstick to baby shampoo. Produced with Free Range Studios and hosted by Annie Leonard, the seven-minute film by The Story of Stuff Project reveals the implications for consumer and worker health and the environment, and outlines ways we can move the industry away from hazardous chemicals and towards safer alternatives."

"A hundred years ago, it was a good way to sell honey at a fair, but today bee bearding -- the art of giving your face over to a swarm of bees -- is mainly done for fun, or charity.
Insect facial hair has been known to pop up in California, Ohio, and even here in Ontario. The Star caught up with the "chambeeon" of last year's contest in Aylmer to see what the buzz is about, and how many puns can be used in one story. Melanie Kempers, 29, of Guelph, is a beekeeper by trade, and a beebearder on her days off."

Fancy upgrades to razors got you down? Feeling the pinch in the wallet when you need to buy cartridges? You're definitely not alone.
From the Wall Street Journal online:
"Jeff Hagan, a 43-year-old investment banker in San Francisco, doesn't need to buy another blade or razor for the next four years.
That's because last year, tired of trying to keep up with the cycle of shaving-system upgrades and price hikes, Mr. Hagan bought 100 Gillette Mach3 blades. Then he found oil that helps double the blades' lifespan.
"I'm basically investing in blade futures," Mr. Hagan remembers telling onlookers at Costco as they marveled at the pile of cartridges in his cart. "That's my hedge against getting forced to upgrade."
It's good to see companies willing to donate part of their profits to charitable foundations. And when so many smaller organizations are struggling to raise funds, it's nice when they are able to be promoted by a business - to help raise awareness. It's generally a win-win situation.
So when I saw this promotion from Anthony for Men, I thought I'd pass it along to all of you.
Brown Pelicans have been devastated by the effects of the Gulf oil spill, and Tri-State Bird is leading the wildlife rescue efforts in the Gulf. They are dedicated to rehabilitating injured wild native birds, whether orphaned or oiled or otherwise injured. Thanks, Tri-State Bird.
I love sharp knives, and have the greatest respect for knife makers and bladesmiths who can produce and sharpen a knife so well that you can shave with it. But I don't think I'll be shaving with a sword anytime soon... This video is pretty amazing.

The ES8109S's linear motor achieves an astounding 13,000 revolutions per minute. Got facial hair? You're on your way to dictator greatness! Over at PopCrunch, they've got the lowdown on evil dictator facial hair:
"Dictators need facial hair. The way an ordinary person needs consistent sustenance, dictators must proclaim their superiority on their face, with hair. The styles vary depending on the man, but the purpose is the same throughout. Let the people know the supremacy of your rule, no matter which way you shave it. These guys wrote the book, and here's how they did it."
Are you an old-school shaving enthusiast? Inherit an old razor that needs some love? Do you search the flea markets and antique stores for collectible vintage razors? Then this might be helpful to you:
"If you are a guy who swears by your trusted vintage razor then it is important that you take care of the product in order to get the best use of it. One of the key ways to ensure it is always kept working at its optimum level, is to clean the razor effectively."
We're in the home stretch for the Fourth of July weekend, which seemed so far away for so long... I wish I was selling charcoal briquettes and beer this weekend, as almost everyone I know is planning some sort of BBQ and beverage celebration.
Nobody I know is planning a Fourth of July shaving celebration, because I wish I could share something a little more exciting than a wrapup of the ShavingStuff posts for the month of June. But that's what I've got today...
And remember, whether you're traveling for fun, family, or fleeing the crowds this weekend, let the sober person do the driving.
