Deal: Panasonic Vortex Nano Bundle for $100
Amazon.com has a great deal on the Panasonic Men's Vortex Nano Electric Shaver bundled with extra blades and accessories! The Vortex features a pivoting head, 13,000 rpm motor, and automatic charge, clean, and dry functions.
Here's a product I just heard about: the Orbix Rev360. It certainly sounds like an interesting twist on cartridge razors!
"Conventional blades cut at an angle. The Orbix™ razor severs hairs with thousands of tiny rapid movements-cutting the hair shaft almost flush with the follicle. Gone is the drag of the blade against your skin. And since you don't have to apply any pressure on the blades while shaving, you eliminate the most common cause of nicks, cuts, irritation and razor burn."
I did have to laugh at the color selection, though, because you can get the Orbix in camouflage! I'm not sure if men are shaving in the hunting blind or what...
Amazon is offering an instant $10 savings on select Wahl clippers and trimmers until June 30th. It might be a good time to pick up a Father's Day gift!
"Wahl GOATEE Rechargeable Trimmer / Detailer is the right tool to maintain your goatee and define your style. This trimmer features heavy-duty detachable blades for trimming for one pass trimming with professional grade blades like your barber uses. The Detailer detachable blade is a finaly ground blade that offers precision trimming for the most intricate design. Comes with a no pull, no snag guarantee."
"The Wahl Deluxe Chrome Pro 27-Piece Complete Haircut Kit has all the tools you need to make haircutting at home easier than ever. Perfect for total body grooming, this haircut kit is used by a wide variety of people for their haircutting needs, including professional cyclists, swimmers, and other athletes to trim body hair."
"The Wahl Lithium Ion is the world's first grooming device with Lithium Ion technology, the most advanced rechargeable battery technology. It's lighter in weight, has almost no charge-loss in storage, is environmentally smart, and has no memory issues. Best of all, it provides 3x the run time, 2x the torque, a 1-minute quick charge and 1 hour full charge which typical rechargeable trimmers can not do."
To get the instant savings, purchase $49 or more of eligible Wahl products, and enter the coupon code "WAHLJUN9" at checkout.
"Remington's CleanXChange is the industry's first shaver with a cutting system (foils, cutters, cartridges) that is disposable after 30 shaves! The anti-microbial coating on the foil inhibits the growth of irritation-causing bacteria. There is no messy cleanup and a like new performance with every cartridge change. The pop-up trimmer is great for detailing facial hair. It comes with a deluxe travel pouch, two-year warranty and a money-back performance guarantee."
And, if you spend more than $59 on eligible Remington products sold by Amazon.com through May 31st, you'll save $15. Use the following promotional code at check out: RMGTNMY9.
The Emjoi RotoShave AP-3RS Rechargeable Electric Razor looks like a push mower, but for your face, not the lawn. It isn't manually operated, though, so don't fear having to drag it back and forth over your face...
"At the heart of the Rotoshave are nine rotating blades that operate at 30 revolutions per second, which means that your face will be shaved with an amazing 270 strokes per second.
No other shaver can match this performance or give you a closer, faster or smoother shave.
In addition, the Rotoshave makes shaving safer and more comfortable than ever, with two unique design features: the shaver's patented safety guards protect your skin from each blade stroke, ensuring fewer nicks and cuts than other razors, while its patented Spiral Windings virtually eliminate irritation."
The RotoShave comes with two cartridges (each featuring nine blades), a 1 hour automatic switching charger (100-240 volts), charging stand, carrying case, an instructional DVD, and an instruction manual.

Shave With Your Phone
For the guy who has everything (or the guy who forgets to shave before leaving the house), the Cool 758 razor phone has an electric shaver that pops out of the bottom. For just $112 you get a phone, a VGA camera, MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity, and an FM radio.
Far out, eh? If you're interested, pick one up here.
"Wet or dry, the Vortex delivers a clean, smooth shave with the power to cut through even the nastiest of beards. This razor is fully immersible in water for a great shave in or out of the shower. With Panasonic's wet-or-dry technology, you can shave wet with lather or dry for a quick trim. When you're done shaving, simply rinse under clean water, click the Vortex into the HydraClean dock, and your razor will be ready the next morning."
"The powerful and intelligent HydraClean Hygienic Cleaning System includes automatic charge, clean and dry functions, while refreshing the shaver for its next use. All these functions can be used together or independently. Included in the drying feature is a heating element for an extra dry shaving head, leaving no wetness or moisture behind. The cleaning base will heat dry the entire shaver head and then fan dry any leftover moisture. This system uses a water/ detergent-infused cleansing process instead of alcohol for safe effective cleaning of the razor that will remove any and all debris."

The coupon applies to all Panasonic personal care item orders at Amazon over $99.
Oh that the world were neatly categorized into three buckets - you got your bedding, you got your bath, and for everything else you've got beyond. Where do you think the Philips Norelco BodyGroom falls? My guess is that last category, which if not for the fancy alliteration, could be called "misc" or "potpourri".
Now you wouldn't necessarily expect to walk into Bed Bath and Beyond and buy a BodyGroom, and my suspicion is whoever the buyer is for said triple-B store is realizing that now too. That might be why the BodyGroom is on clearance and available to you for only $19.99, while supplies last. This is the BodyGroom BG2020, which according to the model number is good for another 11 years. Shipping starts at $5.
You may remember our recent mention of The Manalogues - the latest web campaign for the Philips Norelco Bodygroom. Well now the Bodygroom has teamed up with Funny or Die to bring you a chance for your own 15 minutes of fame, and a couple hairless McNuggetts, should you choose.
Presenting the Bodygroom Manalogues! Has body hair played a part in your life? Here's a chance to tell your tale in 3000 characters or less. Share your story by entering it at www.shaveeverywhere.com
Two winners will have their story professionally produced and performed by Bryan Callen of MadTV. And trust me, as talented as you think you are, you really want a professional telling your embarrassing pube story. That's what they're trained to do.
Check out the video above to get an idea of what they're looking for. Here's my favorite euphemism:
I accidentally opened the blast doors on the Millennium Falcon and she caught site of my Chewbacca.
The holiday season is upon us once again, and it's time for all of you to start stimulating the economy. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to spend your way out of this economic crisis, one gift at at time! OK, maybe not the soundest advice, but there will be some people you still want to buy for, and some who will still be expecting a gift. Aside from the electric razors we've tried to keep most things below $50 on this year's holiday gift guide.
Cartridge Razors
I'm still loving the powered razors. A little vibration goes a long way toward a smooth and comfortable shave. The Gillette Fusion may trump Schick on number of blades, but the Quattro's now got this kick-ass trimmer for keeping your whiskers or sideburns in line. Gillette Fusion Power - $10.99 Schick Quattro Titanium Trimmer - $12.49
On the other ends of the spectra, we recommend the environmentally conscience Recycline razor, and the experimental Rolling Razor. Recycline Preserve Triple Razor - $7.49 Rolling Razor - $14.95
Electric Razors
Same group as last year, only the Braun Pulsonic has been rebranded the Series 7. Still the top of the line traditional electric razor in my book. If rotary is your game, choose between either the wet/dry lubricant-dispensing Moisture Shaving System, or the more classic arcitec. Braun Series 7 - $227 Philips Norelco Moisture Shaving System - $129 Philips Norelco arcitec - $219
Pubic Shaving
The BodyGroom is still going strong, now with a professional edition with "high-performance trimmer attachment", as well as another set of hysterical videos worthy of a Webby. And if completely bare is where you're headed, there's still no beating the Cleancut - the #1 choice in the porn industry. Philips Norelco Bodygroom - $49.99 Seiko Cleancut - $67
Nose Shaving
As you get older, your hair follicles move from the top of your head to your nose and ears. It's a scientifically proven fact. Look it up. I just finished the Wikipedia page on it. These tools will help you combat the forsaken follicle foliage. Groom Mate Platinum XL Nose and Ear Hair Trimmer - $18.88 Philips Norelco Nose and Ear Trimmer - $12.99
Back Shaving
A year later and I still don't want to talk about it. If you know a guy who needs one of these, just do him a favor - buy it for him, and give it to him while no one else is in the room. MANGROOMER - $39.95
Shaving Accessories
Nicks and cuts come at exactly the wrong time. Your dopp kit needs a Nick Stick for fast healing after a particularly brutal shave. And while I still haven't made peace with the goatee, I have to admire the ingenuity which went into the Goatee Saver. Somebody's got to get us out of this economic mess. The Nick Stick - $5.95 The Goatee Saver - $19.99
Got in a new Braun Series 7 the other day for testing. Looks an awful lot like last year's Braun Pulsonic. I have to admit I've been a little confused about all the different types of Braun electric razors. There's the Pulsonic, the Synchro, the Activator, the Cruzer, the Series 1, 3, 5, and 7. I can't figure them all out. Thankfully, someone at Braun couldn't either, and issued a branding overhaul. Welcome to order. The current line of Braun electric razors now fall into four distinct groups.
Series 1 offers smooth and convenient shaving, featuring ultra thin foil technology for an incredible shave at an affordable price. Series 1 shavers range in price from $34 - $39.
Series 3 is perfect for consumers seeking a smooth shave and an adaptable shaver. Featuring Braun's renowned 3-stage cutting system, Series 3 models incorporate Braun's Contour Hugging Head for extra smoothness. Series 3 shavers range in price from $64 to $119.
Series 5 provides a smooth and precise shave, incorporating Gillette Blade Technology and Braun's unique Power Comb to lift and cut problem hairs lying flat against the skin. Series 5 shavers are fully washable under running water and available with Braun's patented Clean&Renew™ system. This model also includes an adjustable long hair trimmer and comes in a variety of colors. Series 5 shavers range in price from $169 to $229.
Series 7 offers outstanding smoothness and skin comfort, with all the shaving tools needed to achieve Braun's most thorough and comfortable shave ever. Series 7's shaver head is the world's first with Pulsonic Technology, an active head oscillating at over 10,000 micro-vibrations per minute to help deliver Braun's closest shave ever. Series 7 shavers range in price from $249 to $289.
And for what it's worth, last year's kick-ass Pulsonic razor is now the Series 7. We wrote a bunch of positive reviews last year of the Pulsonic (scroll down a bit in that last link), and we're going to revisit the Series 7 to see if it still stands up. We're pretty confident it will, and we're recommending it in our upcoming holiday gift guide. Check back soon for a full re-review.
I think there are two main camps in the electric razor world - rotary head and foil. If you're into the former, the Arcitec, excuse me, the arcitec, is latest razor from Philips Norelco. Introduced last year in both standard and shaving-cream-dispensing incarnations, we had a chance to give those rotary heads a spin. Check out our arcitec review from way back in '07.
Get $40 off a future Amazon.com purchase when you spend $139 or more on select Norelco, Sonicare, and Bliss Philips products offered by Amazon.com, including this item. Here's how (restrictions apply). Offer valid through November 30, 2008.
Um, I call that a recession-busting steal of a deal!
Now why, you may be asking, does one person need two electric razors? I can think of several reasons.
The two sides of your face are acting childish and won't share.
You have an annoying roommate who's constantly in your stuff.
You're attempting to stimulate the economy with the excessive spending we've all become used to.
Whatever the reason, I don't care. Keep one for yourself and sell one on craigslist.
The Panasonic Pivot Action and Pro Curve wet/dry shaver has the fastest linear motor (13,000 rpm's) and the sharpest blades in the industry (30 degree). The pivoting head not only rotates side to side but each head floats independently up and down to give you the closest shave in the industry.
Since when did they start measuring sharpness in degrees?
It was just about one year ago that we were shaving with the new Braun Pulsonic for the first time, and I thought I'd mention something important that I've learned. You can't skimp.
Let me explain - the Pulsonic is a self-cleaning electric razor. It's got a little hygienic-o-meter which let's you know when it's time for a cleaning. And it's got these nifty little cartridges that you plug into the base which contain the cleaning solution. Click a button, whir-whir-whir, your razor is clean. I wish I could do the same for the rest of my bathroom.
Here's the thing. I'm cheap. I like to squeeze an extra shave out of a razor. And I like to get an extra cleaning out of the Pulsonic. There's just one thing standing between me and my frugality. Physics. Or chemistry. It's one of those two sciences that deals with molecules. And evaporation. See the cleaning cartridges are filled with a lot of alcohol, and that stuff tends to evaporate pretty quickly. So if you think you can hold out and get another shave with your hygienic-o-meter flashing danger, remember that you're also fighting the cruel mistress that is evaporation. My advice - clean early, clean often.
This is not a criticism of the Pulsonic or its cleaning system. It's more a criticism of my stinginess. I love the Pulsonic. It's my favorite electric razor, and I've recommended it more than any other. Just use the cleaning solution cartridges, or they're going to disappear. (Unless you're a chemist, in which case see this DIY cleaning solution alternative.)
