Panasonic ES7056S Vortex HydraClean Men's Shaver - Now With Fog-Free Mirror!

We've blogged about the Panasonic ES7056S Vortex Triple Head HydraClean Men's Shaver before, with it's hot wet/dry shaving action, "full 30-degree inner blade angle", and "Panasonic's unique HydraClean Hygienic Cleaning System". Damn that gets me all riled up. And between now and February you can tack on a fog-free mirror for some in-the-shower shaving-power. Buy the Panasonic Vortex at Amazon (or anywhere, as far as I can tell), send in this rebate, and then BAM! You'll be the envy of all the kids.

Expect 8-14 weeks for mirror delivery. You might be saying "BAM" a lot in anticipation.

The ShavingStuff 2006 Holiday Gift Guide

holiday_guide.jpgTrying to figure out the perfect gift for a loved one this year? You've come to the right place. It's the 2006 ShavingStuff Holiday Guide, and it's jam-packed with home runs from the shaving world. Hey Santa - I've been good. Real good.

Shaving Kits
Shaving kits are great way to go in the sub-$100 range. They generally provide shaving cream and a post-shave moisturizer, and are a great way in introduce someone to a brand's shaving system. Additional items often include handy travel bags and pre-shave cleansers. Here are some we think are winners:
MenScience TSA-Allowed Travel Kit $78
Daily Shave Kit from Menscience $55
Anything from the ZIRH holiday gift center $50 - $70 (and one for $239)
Baxter of California Shave 1.2.3 (with Dopp Bag) $75
The Hits Vol 1 from Billy Jealousy $50
The Perfect Shave from Anthony Logistics for Men $50
a|MEN|ity Limited Edition Gift Set $250
Still not seeing it? Surf on over to the Details for Men kit page and see what strikes your fancy.

We like power. Three, four, or five blades, shaving is better with power. Want the Cadillac of razors? Get the Fusion. Mid-range SUV? Schick Quattro. The old work-horse? M3Power.
Gillette-Fusion Power Razor and 4 Cartridge Pack $22.99
Schick Quattro Power $12.95
Gillette M3Power $6

Electric Razors
Electric razors are a great way to shave if you're beard grows slowly, you've got tough skin, or you just need a quick shave. They're also a great travel alternative where you can't predict your sink and lighting. Here are a couple we recommend:
Panasonic ES8077S Vortex Hydraclean System - $109.99
Braun 7505 Syncro UltraSpeed Shaver - $89.99
Norelco 7745X Cool Skin Wet / Dry Electric Shaver - $109.99
Panasonic ES7801S Triple Blade Wet/Dry Rechargeable Men's Shaver - $49.99

Sometimes you have to dress your shave up. Accessorize! For that old-school barbershop shave experience right in the comfort of your own home, we recommend the Conair Hot Lather Machine. For those ingrown nasties which verge on requiring surgery, we recommend the Tweezerman. And for hair growing in places it shouldn't, we recommend the Remington Nose & Ear Trimmer.
ConAir Chrome Hot Lather Machine - $29.99
Tweezerman Stainless Steel Ingrown Hair Splintertweeze - $8.97
Remington Nose & Ear Trimmer - $5.99

Head Shaving
As we said last year, you could shave your head with a regular razor, or you could shave your head with something specially designed for the job. Hey - it's still your head.
HeadBlade Classic (in yellow) - $10.95
HeadBlade S4 (Signature Series Stainless Steel) - $74.95
DOVO Head Shaver - $19.99

Back Shaving
You may think you're bringing sexy back, but if you're bringing hairy back, you're bringing lonely back. Luckily there's a solution, aside from being mistaken for Azamat from the Borat movie.
MANGROOMER Back Hair Shaver - $39.95

Pubic Shaving
Last, but certainly not least, we have the category of pubic shaving. Men just love that extra optical inch provided by the BodyGroom, and women (and men) just love that smooth, clean... well... you know.
Philips Norelco BG2020 Men's Bodygroom - $34.99
Seiko Cleancut - $53.25

Andis Improved Master Clipper/trimmer ML 01557

A couple weeks ago the New York Times published their fall edition of Men's T Style magazine, and this was one of the items they mentioned - the Andis Improved Master Clipper/trimmer. It's "improved" because they improved it. That's marketing genius. Andis actually makes a wide range of trimmers and clippers, from consumer to professional grade, to even small and large animal models. Don't you and Fifi need matching clippers?

The ML 01557 is professional grade, but of course you're worth it.

Unbreakable, lightweight aluminum housing for years of dependable service
Powerful magnetic motor generates 14,000 cutting strokes per minute
Precision built to run quiet and cool

Hey, there's only so much you can do with a razor. At some point those sideburns get out of control, and you've got to take your game to the next level. My barber Filippo is a master at the sideburns trim-down. The man works magic with clippers and a comb, and I think I'm ready to give it a try at home. Please don't tell him I'm seeing Andis.

The Andis Improved Master Clipper/trimmer is currently $96.99 at Amazon.

Mega Mega's Review of the Philips Norelco BG2020 BodyGroom

Every so often I like to check in on items we covered in the past, and since the BodyGroom remains a hot seller, we're looking at it again today. Now there are a ton of articles and reviews on the web, but the one that everyone seems to have picked up on is by Amazon reviewer Mega Mega. Everyone is quoting Mega Mega's review of the BodyGroom. Sometimes you've got to follow the crowd.

Lets just say the "Bodygroom" is Shaft, Beanbag, and Starfish safe. No nicks or any worries...that does not mean go in there like a maniac...take your time [...] Here is a word of warning, if you are a hairy man in the posterior / back (buttocks cheeks) region, I would not suggest going bald there...although the bodygroom does yield very smooth results, re-growth maybe a little annoying. [...] All in All the boodygroom is a great product and offers a safe way to prep those sensitive areas. I can not at this time give you a female perspective on this product...I can only assume that it will yeild similar results...I will keep you informed of any new developments.

And if Mega Mega suddenly turns into a female, we'll keep you informed of that development as well. The Philips Norelco Bodygroom is $39.99 at Amazon.

Hitachi Rotary Razaq

Back in March we had an update on the Hitachi RM-SX100 which at the time was only available in Japan. There's been a recent resurgence of activity on this electric razor, most prominently from this Gizmodo post. The design of this electric razor has been updated to a sleeker, more modern look, and the name has been changed from Unix command line speak "RM-SX100" to the more consumer friendly "Rotary Razaq". No word yet on US or European availability, but I can only imagine real-soon-now. More updates as we get them...

The Hitachi Rotary Razaq is currently available in silver and blue from Amazon Japan for ¥5,480.

Norelco 7800XLCC Jet Clean System

When electric razors aren't enough for you, you want a "system". And that's just what Norelco provides with it's 7800XLCC Jet Clean System. Not only do you get a "Precision Cutting System", "Unique Lift & Cut Technology", and "Patented Reflex Action", you also get the "Jet Clean and Charge System".

Want to see the jet clean system up close and personal? Just enlarge the photo on the right. Yeah, can you imagine that reaction going on all day on your bathroom counter? If I didn't know better I'd think someone was making heavy water for a reactor.

The price of the Norelco 7800XLCC Jet Clean fluctuates. Currently it's around $96, but Amazon puts this bad boy on sale every so often, and we've seen it as low as $50. Total steal. Buy a second one and sell it on eBay.

Factory Reconditioned Braun Syncro Smart Logic Shaver

Amazon is offering the factor reconditioned Braun 7526 Syncro Smart Logic Shaver for only $39.99. That's $100 off the list price. What exactly does "factory reconditioned" mean?

Reconditioned generally means that the shaver has been returned to the manufacturer from the retailer due to packaging damage. Each shaver undergoes extensive testing, cleaning, and repairs to bring it back to like-new condition. Includes a 2-year warranty against defects, excluding the foil and cutter block.

2 year warranty. That's all you need to know. It's like you're getting a low-mileage Porsche because someone's dot-com options just vaporized. And with 261 customer reviews for an average rating of 4 stars, I'd say we have a winner here.

The Braun 7526 Syncro Smart Logic Shaver is available now from Amazon for $39.99 and is eligible for free shipping. Get yours now before the supply of referbs runs out.
