BodyGroom Clearance at Bed Bath and Beyond

bodygroombg2020.JPGOh that the world were neatly categorized into three buckets - you got your bedding, you got your bath, and for everything else you've got beyond. Where do you think the Philips Norelco BodyGroom falls? My guess is that last category, which if not for the fancy alliteration, could be called "misc" or "potpourri".

Now you wouldn't necessarily expect to walk into Bed Bath and Beyond and buy a BodyGroom, and my suspicion is whoever the buyer is for said triple-B store is realizing that now too. That might be why the BodyGroom is on clearance and available to you for only $19.99, while supplies last. This is the BodyGroom BG2020, which according to the model number is good for another 11 years. Shipping starts at $5.

To infinity and beyond!

Thanks dealnews!

Get Your BodyGroom Manalogue On FunnyOrDie

funnyordie.jpg
You may remember our recent mention of The Manalogues - the latest web campaign for the Philips Norelco Bodygroom. Well now the Bodygroom has teamed up with Funny or Die to bring you a chance for your own 15 minutes of fame, and a couple hairless McNuggetts, should you choose.

Presenting the Bodygroom Manalogues! Has body hair played a part in your life? Here's a chance to tell your tale in 3000 characters or less. Share your story by entering it at www.shaveeverywhere.com

Two winners will have their story professionally produced and performed by Bryan Callen of MadTV. And trust me, as talented as you think you are, you really want a professional telling your embarrassing pube story. That's what they're trained to do.

Check out the video above to get an idea of what they're looking for. Here's my favorite euphemism:

I accidentally opened the blast doors on the Millennium Falcon and she caught site of my Chewbacca.

Whoa! What a Wookie.

Philips Norelco and the BodyGroom present The Manalogues

manalogues.jpgThose marketing geniuses over at Philips Norelco have updated ShaveEverywhere.com with the latest in Web 2.0 viral video. It's The Manalogues - a series of performances by comedian Bryan Callen illustrating the hard life of the hairy, and the salvation provided by the BodyGroom. And it's pure shaving genius.

Bryan Callen portrays five different hirsute gentlemen: Rick V, a bodybuilder from Brooklyn; Henri P, a circus freak from France; Sergi C, a male model from Moscow; Sam G, a regular bloke from England, and Douglas B, an awkward poetry slammer from Seattle. This guy Bryan is going places. I expect to see him on a sitcom next fall. Make sure you watch each of his sketches. Poetry slam Douglas is my favorite. Also, write in with your own hairy-man stories, and if they're good enough, Bryan will perform them.

The Philips Norelco BG2020 BodyGroom is $39.99. And introducing the new Philips Norelco BG2030 Professional BodyGroom at $49.99. What's the difference? A few extra trimmer attachments. And some improvements related to shaving "the nest". Worth the extra $10? Haven't tried the new one, but to me $10 buys me a lot of crotch comfort, even if it's only peace of mind.

Third Arcitec Winner

Thumbnail image for philips_arcitec_vertical.jpgA big ShavingStuff congratulations to Jared, who has won himself an arcitec razor. Jared's story is, how do I say this, south of the border. And while he's won himself a Philips Norelco arcitec, perhaps he'd be better served with a BodyGroom:

I was about 16, had started shaving maybe a year earlier, and was starting to understand that one's face isn't necessarily the only area of the body that can be shaved. Being ... curious ... i decided that I should shave my um, euphemisms. So i took my Mach 3 downtown and got to work. Naturally, I got nicked. It wasn't particularly more painful than any other area, but it just WOULDN'T stop bleeding! I washed off and dried off and sat in the bathroom for what seemed like hours waiting for it to stop bleeding. Being a kind of nervous 16 year old, i got more and more worried, until i reached the point of full-on freaking out. So, I did the only thing i could think of doing... i started yelling for my dad. He came to the bathroom door and yelled "What?" and i told him what happened. He stood outside the door, totally silent for a few seconds. Then just yelled back "Well why the hell did you do that?" I responded "Well i didn't try to cut myself!" to which he replied, "I wasn't talking about cutting yourself, you peckerhead!" Anyways, he told me what in hindsight was the obvious solution--hold some toilet paper on the cut until it stops bleeding, which occurred shortly thereafter. I couldn't look my dad in the face for at least a full day, I was so embarrassed!

Oof. Harsh father. If shaving didn't scar you for life, his words might have. Hope you two have made up.

Well, that about sums up our contest. A big thanks to Philips Norelco for providing us and our winners with arcitec razors, and thanks to everyone who wrote in or signed up to our mailing list. There's nothing like a good, mildly embarrassing shaving story. We'll have to do this again sometime.

Second Arcitec Winner Announced! One Day Left To Win Your Own!

Thumbnail image for philips_arcitec_vertical.jpgA big congratulations to Buck, our second ShavingStuff arcitec winner! Buck wrote in with a sweet romantic story which one can only imagine had a Harlequin ending.

When I was dating my future wife, we were about to celebrate our first Valentine's Day together. I thought I would surprise my fiancee by shaving a heart into the top of my head. I had a buzz cut at the time. Everything went well. The heart was centered on top of my head, and had the proper shape. There was also a nice contrast between my dark hair and the pale white of my bare scalp. Anyway, On Valentine's Day I arrive at my gal's apartment wearing my usual ballcap. I present her with a card, flowers, and a small gift. Then I removed my hat and said, "Happy Valentine's Day honey" She smiled and laughed, then said: "Is that what I think it is?" "Yes" I replied "I have a Heart-On for you!"

Oh visual puns. It takes a tough man to pull one off. And in the end, Buck gets the girl. Well played sir. Hope you enjoy your new arcitec razor.

There's still one day left and three razors to go! Send in your shaving story or sign up for our mailing list. Full details are here.

First Arcitec Winner Announced! Still Time To Win Your Own.

Thumbnail image for philips_arcitec_vertical.jpgA big congratulations to John, our first ShavingStuff arcitec winner! John's shaving story is an instant classic - a tale of modest beginnings, mistaken identity, and comedic outcome. I think we can all relate.

I started using a shaving cream that came in a short wide top container, you put a small amount in your palm and then used a brush to lather it up and apply it. I used this method for some time and it always worked great, however my wife used a product called hemp body lotion that came in a similar container and placed it near my product in the cabinet. I soon began to notice that my cream would not lather up and my morning shave was not getting the job done, I finally put on my reading glasses and realized that I had been trying to lather up and apply her body lotion for 3 or 4 days, it's hell getting old!

It certainly is. Luckily the arcitec looks nothing like a short wide top container of hemp.

Hey ShavingStuff readers! Want your own arcitec? There's still time, and there are still four left. Submit your own shaving story or sign up for our mailing list by Friday. Full details are here.

Philips Norelco BodyGroom for $29.99

philipsBodyGroomSmall.jpgWe've been highlighting a bunch of Father's Day gifts recently. All of them have been super sweet dopp kits or variations on that theme. Pretty safe gift. Pretty sweet gift. We make no guarantee about today's item.

The Philips Norelco BodyGroom has been quite the popular item since its introduction a couple years ago. A brilliant viral marketing campaign at shaveeverywhere.com didn't hurt either. Here's the question - how do you give one of these body trimmers to a loved one and still say I love you just the way you are? There's an implicit statement built into these things which says, "hey, you're a little too hairy." It's a fine line to walk.

So if you've got a strong relationship with your man, and he's a little too neanderthal, this body trimmer is on sale for $5 off its normal low price. The Philips Norelco BodyGroom is currently on sale at Amazon for $29.99. Good luck.

Review of the Philips Norelco Nose and Ear Trimmer

nt9110.jpgI know, it's not something we all want to talk about. But every man should have a nose trimmer in his hair-battling arsenal. Woman may have their waxing kits hidden under the vanity. Men should have their nose hair trimmer hidden right next to them. Take a minute to read our unboxing of the Philips Norelco Nose and Ear Trimmer, then come on back for our full review.

Review
foilHeadtrimmer.jpgLate last year Philips Norelco introduced the NT9110, aka the "Precision Nose and Ear Trimmer", a radical departure from traditional rotary tops. How is different? Well, while most nose hair trimmers have a spinning blade under a foiled head, (see picture left), the Norelco has "Tube Shave" technology.

Tube Shave is a next-generation shaving technology that delivers fast, one stroke efficiency for significantly better hair catching than foil shaving. You also get significantly closer results than current precision trimmers. Tube Shave technology shaves at skin level. The shaver can be applied to every angle of the skin without losing shaving effectiveness.

"Tube Shave" seems like kind of a funny name for it. I'd call it "Vertical Shave". Or "Shaft Shave" (given the innuendo Philips Norelco tends to use). Basically, you stick that long shaft, er... stalk up your nose and wiggle it around. You'll be surprised at how far up it can go. Kind of freaked me out. The good news is that it never once caught or tugged a hair, which would have been very painful.

Eyebrows
The Philips Norelco Nose and Ear Trimmer also comes with two eyebrow attachments which easily snap on over the shaft. Er... tube. They actually work pretty well at trimming out-of-control eyebrows. You'll definitely want to go against the grain. Running them in the direction that your eyebrow hair grows will only work as a comb (which is sometimes all that you need). I'd definitely recommend starting with the longer attachment first. Can't recover from too close. For me the longer attachment was all I needed, although I have pretty thick eyebrows. No need to go all Bob Geldof in The Wall.

Ears
Finally, the NT9110 is also an ear hair trimmer. You don't need any attachment. Just run it along your lobes where hair grows, and occasionally in the folds of the ear. (I'm embarrassed to admit that hair grows there too.)

Summary
So, how does the Philips Norelco Nose and Ear Trimmer really stack up? As a nose-hair trimmer, it's decent. I think the rotary foil trimmers I've used in the past have done slightly better, but the Norelco does well, and you don't get the occasional painful snag. As an eyebrow shaver it's great. Your alternative is a comb, a pair of scissors, and a lesson from your barber. And as an ear hair shaver it's mixed. For hair along the lobe I prefer an electric razor. For hair in the folds of your ears, it can't be beat.

In summation, I'd give the Norelco an A for effort, and a B+ for execution. At $12.99 (which includes battery!), it's definitely worth it.

The Philips Norelco BodyGroom BG2022 - Limited Edition

bodygroom2022.jpgWhat do you do when you've got a hit product? You put out a limited edition for more money! Case in point - the Philips Norelco BodyGroom BG2022 - Limited Edition. I actually hadn't heard of the limited edition until Shaving Stuff reader Thomas wrote in about it. He said "Other than color all I have been able to discover is that the BG2022 comes with a carrying case."

I think he's right. Here's the official product page for the original BodyGroom, and here's the official product page for the Limited Edition BodyGroom (which I could only get to by guessing urls). The only discernible difference, aside from the color, is "Travel pouch - For storage and protection".

Want to pay an extra $10 for the limited edition? Go for it. Not planning on traveling? Buy the original. The Philips Norelco BodyGroom BG2022 - Limited Edition is $44.99. The Philips Norelco BodyGroom BG2020 - Regular Edition is $34.99.
