Quick update on the latest craze in body grooming - the new Philips Norelco Bodygroom is now the number one top selling item on Amazon's Health & Personal Care Top Sellers list. And, at $39.99, the item qualifies for free shipping. Now unless you've been shaving under a rock, you know the magic the Bodygroom can do for your c@¢k. But if you need a quick refresher, click on over either to Amazon (for the short video) or ShaveEverywhere (for the "extended" version) and see what all the fuss is about.

Special thanks to ShavingStuff reader Rob for calling this to our attention.

Would You Shave With a Dorco?

What's in a name? That which we call a razor
By any other word would shave as close.

Guess old Bill hadn't heard of the Dorco. Here's some advice - if you're going to release a razor in the english-speaking world, have someone check if your name sounds... well... dorky. Everyone remembers the classic mistake made by Chevrolet when they release the "Nova" to spanish speaking countries. And who can forget Dockers' classic blunder when they introduced the "StinkyPants" in Australia. You've got to check the translation.

Anyway, for all you ladies in the hizzouse, Dorco has released it's new "Shai" razor for women. According to Aving.net:

Its green color and slender design remind us of a fresh leaf.

Ahh... fresh leaf...

‘Shai’ features micro tilted grinding system coated with micro thin film, and its long lasting blade leaves moist and comfortable feeling after shaving.

Ahh... moist leaves...

The Dorco "Shai" is available in Korean, and maybe elsewhere. I don't really know.

French Men Love Baxter's of California, Shouldn't You?

The April 7th issue of Women's Wear Daily contains an article entitled A French Focus on Men's Skin Care, which mentions Baxter's of California, a shaving brand we've featured here before. Sadly, the site requires a login, so unless you're a paying subscriber you're going to have to settle for squinting at the tiny font in the image on the right (which contains the full text). The basic gist of the article is this - the men's grooming business is seeing double-digit growth in France, fueled in part by niche brands such as Baxter's of California. Seems men are finally starting to take an interest in skin care, demanding a wider selection of high-quality products to choose from. They are also interested in trying new products from the smaller players who specialize in one area of skin care - like shaving.

We at ShavingStuff applaud this trend. It's high time we men had the variety and quality available in women's skin care products. That's one French movement we hope goes world-wide.

Would You Like Ants With Your Razors?

fusion_razors.jpgA couple weeks ago we posted about Gillette Fusion razors at Amazon - an 8-pack was only $14.99. (If you missed it the price is back up to $24.99.) So I bought two 8-packs, thinking that for less than two bucks a razor it was a good deal. This morning a box from Amazon showed up at my office, filled with ants. Live ants. Oh yeah, I think there were some razors in there too.

After smushing most of the ants that hadn't taken refuge in my keyboard, I surfed on over to Customer Support at Amazon and sent in feedback which went something like:

Shipment of razors arrived. Box included live ants. I didn't order ants. Requesting an RMA so I could return them... (the ants)

Well score one for Amazon's customer service. Later this afternoon I received an email from Neeraj:

I am sorry to hear about the problem you experienced with your shipment. I have placed a new order for the item. There is no charge for this replacement. [...] If you need to contact us again about this return or the replacement order, please visit the following link and select "Returns & Refunds"

So after all is said and done, it appears I will end up with 32 Fusion razors for only $29.98 - less than a buck a razor. And a bunch of ants. Not a bad deal if you ask me. Thanks Amazon! Maybe you could include a bottle of RAID with the next shipment.

Introducing the Hesketh 4x4 Razor

A while back inventor Mark Hesketh wrote in about an idea he had for prolonging the life of a razor. He had noticed that with a multi-blade cartridge, the first blades became dull and worn out much more quickly than the last blades. What if you could exchange the blades? Kind of like rotating your tires. Eureka! A light bulb literally appeared above his head. And thus the idea for a light bulb symbolizing an idea was born.

Actually, the Hesketh 4x4 was born. Mark, knowing a little bit about intellectual property, went out and patented the idea. And that's where it stands today. So listen up all you Gillettes and Schicks of the world. If you're tired of fitting more blades into a razor head, maybe the next step in razor innovation is to think like a Transformer.

For more info, including schematics on swapping blades, click on over to www.heskethrazor.com and read up.

Gillette Fusion Razors - 8 for $14.99

fusion_razors.jpgPrices are starting to drop! An 8-pack of Gillette Fusion razor cartridges has fallen to $14.99 at Amazon, for a limited time. That's less than 2 bucks a piece, or about 31 cents a blade if you count that sixth little guy. It's also about half the price of the Fusion Power razors, which we thought shaved as well as the regular blades, and even cheaper than RazorsDirect, which is usually the cheapest place on the net. Any way you look at it it's the lowest price we've seen by far. Snatch these bad boys up before Amazon comes to their senses. Buy two and get free shipping!

The Man and His Products

manHair.jpgHere's a challenge - find the website for a line of personal products called "The Man". Go on, head over to Google and try. I'll wait...

Give up? I did too. The website is TheManProducts.com. I had seen these at a local store and figured I'd do a little research. A frustrating hour later I concluded that while the product name is great for the retail shelf, it doesn't translate to the web.

But enough of that. Problem solved. Let's take a closer look at these guys. The Man has got you covered in the areas of face, body, and hair, with products that include shampoo, scrubs, lotions, and of course, shaving cream. Dr. Seuss may tall you that big "A" is for Aunt Annies Alligator, but in The Man's world, "A" is for after shave lotion ($20), and "I" is for impressively smooth shaving cream ($20).

According to The Man:

these are not beauty products. These are high-performance, demanding products for a man’s face, body and hair. Purest ingredients, nothing complicated, just great stuff designed to make you feel and look your best.

"M" is for Man. Check him out... if you're Man enough.

Free Schick Quattro Midnight Razor

12010-large.jpgYep. You heard right. A free Schick Quattro Midnight Razor for the small cost of giving up an email address. Nothing in life is really free. But hey - that's why god invented Hotmail.

Here's how it works. Go to www.schickquattro.com/mojo.cfm and fill out your name and address. Then... actually, I don't really want to give it away. It's actually quite funny. Let's put it this way. What follows is a clever merging of Flash and location-aware marketing. Apparently I'm known as "Sweet Cheeks" in my home town. Perhaps you are too.

The Caldo Razor at Target

caldo_razor.jpgTarget. You know it. You love it. It's the friendly Walmart. It's not as big, and you don't feel as threatened when it moves into your neighborhood. And, they're big on design. With celebs like Isaac Mizrahi developing exclusive home decor and fashion, or Rachel Ashwell doing her shabby chic thing, Target has emerged as the leader in attainable, affordable design. And now the have a razor.

Introducing the Caldo Razor, available now at Target for $29.99. The Caldo takes Gillette Mach3 blades, and makes a great upgrade to your gummy original Mach3 handle which is probably a bit of an embarrassment at this point. The Caldo is unpowered, so don't make the switch unless you're into the power-free shave.

Now, I'd like to link directly to the Caldo so you can find out more for yourself, but it appears that the one thing Target can't design well is their website. Here's the best link I can give you. Once there, mouse over "Featured Products" in the center section, and then use the right arrow to scroll over to the razor. But wait, once you click on the razor you can easily miss it. That's because depending on where your mouse is placed you'll either see a picture of a well-dressed man or the Caldo. Ridiculous. Come on guys. Drop the Flash and let us link directly to your pages. Oh yeah, and make the razor available online. I'm lazy and into ecommerce.
