Old-School Shaving Supplies from Clubman Online

ShavingStuff reader Chuck just wrote in about a site he recommends - Clubman Online. Clubman specializes in old-school shaving products like 100% badger brushes, shave soap cakes, and 1960's-style twin blades. They've got a fine selection of handmade products, including combs perfected by nine generations of Swiss craftsmen, and brushes made on the Isle of Man.

Old Original Shaving Brushes are made for us on the Isle of Man (located in the Irish Sea) by Progress-Vulfix. Made from the finest pure badger hair, our brushes will give years of excellent, luxurious service. Progress Vulfix has been producing shaving brushes for over half a century and is the premier manufacturer of badger brushes in the United Kingdom.... All the brushes are handmade and come in three quality grades - Pure Badger (good), Super Badger (better), and Silver Tip Badger (very best)...

These brushes range from $19.95 to $110.00, so if you can't decide which of the three badgers is for you, I suggest chilling out at www.badgerbadgerbadger.com and letting your brain unwind.

Nickel-Plated Shave Set From Anthony

Shave_Set_Mach3_and_Sensor.jpg
Yeah. This thing is sleek enough that we're breaking with our standard right-aligned thumbnail template and plopping it full size right smack in the middle. Remember when I was talking about class the other day? "Objective: To achieve an old school, old fashioned classic shave." Mission accomplished.

This exquisite razor and brush duo reminiscent of 1940's elegance was created exclusively for Anthony Logistics For Men and is compatible with the Gilette Mach 3 Blade. The shave set includes a solid, classic stand, sleek razor and a luxurious badger hair brush; all plated with "Nickel" of the highest quality.

The Mach 3 Set is $250.00 at Anthony.com.

The Conair Chrome Hot Lather Machine

WTF?!? At first glance this looks like something from our sister site Single Serve Coffee. But it's actually a shaving accessory. A hot, soapy, lathery shaving accessory, sure to excite.

Now you can enjoy the same rich, luxurious experience every day with Conair's hot lather machine. Simply remove the bottom plate, place any brand of shaving cream (not gel!) in the bottom compartment, and give the whole thing a quick shake before turning it on. When the indicator light turns green (usually after about a minute), your lather is ready.

Um... awesome! My lather is ready. I wonder what happens if you put gel in it. Probably not a good idea, but hey, they planted the seed.

The Conair Chrome Hot Lather Machine is $16.99 at Amazon.com. Make a hot and lathery Christmas come early in your household.

Reader Review of the Tweezerman Deluxe Shaving Brush

tweezerman.gifJust wanted to pass this note on in case people missed it. ShavingStuff reader Joseph wrote a comment in resopnse to the Shaving Brushes from MEN-U story we posted last week that deserves some attention. Here's his experience and recommendation of the Tweezerman Deluxe Shaving Brush which he bought at ariva.com:

The best value of shaving brushes in the market is probably the Tweezerman HIS Deluxe Shaving Brush ($10-$12). This brush is made in Korea of 100% badger hair, the preferred bristle for softness and for creating a rich lather. The brush head is densely packed, and the base is made of wood. The bristle is quite soft and comfortable. The base is basic, but nicely shaped, polished and lightly stained. I bought two brushes of them. The first one severely shed hair. Fortunately it was backed by a lifetime manufacturer's guarantee that repairs or replaces the defective brushes for free. Tweezerman's Customer Service Center is located in Houston, Texas. My request for replacement was done through email. The replacement brush did not shed. The second brush I bought was perfectly fine. After a year of use, the brush head remains densely packed and soft. Tweezerman also markets a similar shaving brush for HER, sold with soap as a set.

Great write-up. Thanks Joseph!

Shaving Brushes from MEN-U

Thinking about trying a shaving brush? $19.99 will get you a high quality Italian shave brush from MEN-U in your choice of patriotic colors - red, white, blue..., and black. (Black's patriotic too.) Shaving brushes are a good idea. Smoothing shaving cream on your face with your fingers works, but it tends to mat down your whiskers, which is the opposite of what you want. Here are the three main benefits of a brush, according to MEN-U:

First, it helps raise the hair so that a closer cut is possible. Second, it helps create a rich creamy lather with the shaving cream that stays close to the skin. And, finally, it helps remove dead skin cells (exfoliation) which reduces the chance of blemishes, razor bumps and also helps the skin look and feel smooth and healthy

Check out the rest of MEN-U's site for tips on shaving, gift ideas, and lots of other great products.

Baxter of California's Razor Bump Repair

razor_bump_repair.jpgHere's a great product for men with sensitive skin. Baxter of California's Razor Bump Repair.

A unique blend of salicylic acid, an antiseptic and antibacterial agent, and witch hazel dramatically reduce inflammation, itching, and irritation. Soothing allantoin and aloe vera gel combat dryness; gently smoothing and renewing stressed skin.

Anything which gets rid of those unsightly razor bumps or ingrown hairs is a big plus in my book. Now where have I heard of Baxter's Razor Bump Repair before? Oh yeah. The Bec Cartwright issue of FHM. Mmm... FHM...
